F.A.Q

What is Invisalign and how does it work?

Invisalign consists of a series of clear plastic aligners that fit over the teeth. These aligners gently straighten teeth and move your teeth into position. The clear aligners are removable, so this allows you to remove them to eat and clean.

What is the process of Invisalign?

You will start by coming in for a brace assessment with the Dentist, at this appointment we will make sure you are a suitable candidate for the treatment.

You may require an OPG scan of your whole mouth so we can assess bone levels and the roots of your teeth.

You will also have a discussion with the dentist so you can explain in your own words what your desired result would look like, and we can decide how we can get you there.

You will then have a 30-minute appointment with one of our treatment co-ordinators, we will do a full mouth simulation scan, and take some initial photographs.

Once you have had your scan, we can show you a simulation of what your teeth can look like at the end of your treatment.

If you decide to go ahead, we will send off for your aligners and make you an appointment for 3 weeks’ time.

You will have your aligners fitted at your following appointment; we will then also give you a couple more sets of aligners to get you through at least 4 more weeks.

Invisalign aligners need to be changed on a weekly basis.

Sometimes you might need enamel polishing on your review appointments, this will create some space to allow the teeth to move as they should.

You will also need attachments on some of your teeth. These are small spots of composite (matched to the shade of your tooth) that act as an anchor if you have any rotated teeth. .

Invisalign takes up to 26 weeks from start to finish.

You MUST wear your aligners for 22 hours per day, only removing to eat, and clean.

What happens after?

After you have finished your Invisalign treatment you will be given 3 sets of vivera retainers, these MUST be worn EVERY night, this will keep your teeth in place, so they do not move back to their old positions.

FAQs

What is ClearSmile Brace?

ClearSmile Brace uses traditional techniques with new technology to reduce orthodontic treatment times and improve the appearance of the braces. The ClearSmile Brace wires are coated white and uses a material with shape-memory. This shape-memory means the wire will return to its original shape regardless of how it’s bent. This creates the gentle forces used to move your teeth to the desired position.

Why does ClearSmile Brace use gentle forces?

Using lower forces increases the speed and comfort of treatment. Low forces also reduce the risks of orthodontic treatment.

Is ClearSmile Brace safe?

ClearSmile Brace is a safe orthodontic treatment. As with all treatments, there are risks. These will be explained before the commencement of your ClearSmile treatment.

How discreet is ClearSmile Brace?

ClearSmile Brace uses clear brackets, as opposed to metal brackets. The wire used in a ClearSmile Brace is also coasted with a tooth coloured material. As a result, ClearSmile Brace is less visible than traditional fixed braces.

Should I wear a retainer?

Yes. You must wear a retainer for life if you wish to maintain the results of any orthodontic treatment.
